High Speed Rail System

Since the high speed rail system will be coming our way sooner than later. We need to embrace the opportunity and help guide elected officials into making the best decision for all of us. My vote for where a Peninsula Station should be located is Redwood City.

We're way behind the rest of the world in terms of mass transit.  So I'm all for high speed rail if it gets people out of their cars.  If the first station on the Peninsula is in Redwood City that's great.  My guess is that there will be so much fighting about this that it may never get done.  Just like Bart should circle the entire Bay (including the Peninsula), people are unfortunately short-sighted.  The "not in my back yard" mentality is very self-serving and only leads to bigger problems.

Being half-Japanese and having lived in Tokyo for a bit in my 20s, I'm all for high-speed rail. I agree with Jim that we're way behind on this and it's high time we got caught up.

What I don't agree with is placing the peninsula stop in Redwood City. I would think it would be Palo Alto as more of a center of commerce on the peninsula or Millbrae as a connection point with BART and Caltrain. A Millbrae stop would be especially helpful for those wanting to get to SFO. If there's only going to be one peninsula station, then it must be placed very strategically.
